Student-friendly websites
Here is a list of my favorite websites for students to use. They are arranged according to subject, although many cover multiple subjects. They are provided to supplement learning in the classroom and allow students to have fun while continuing to learn outside the classroom.

This is a collection of reference materials, periodicals, and videos that are kid-safe and excellent for researching just about anything you are wondering! You need to use the student login for the district. The user name is beavsd. The password is griffith.
Time for Kids

This is Time magazine's site for children. It has every type of news available in a kid friendly format. There are also games and activities to go along with many of the articles.
National Geographic Kids

This site has a ton of great features. Students can get homework help, latest news updates, extra information on topics from science and social studies, and access to educational games.
Wonderopolis

Prepare to be amazed! This website has daily "wonders" in the form of short articles and videos that are designed to inspire curiosity and a sense of wonder in the world.

This is a comprehensive site with a large variety of math games. You can challenge yourself or review facts you've already learned. Have fun!
Multiplication Practice

This site has a large range of games to help students practice multiplication facts to achieve mastery. I like this site because there is such a wide variety of games to keep children entertained while practicing facts.
Fact Practice

Children can practice fluency with their math facts. They can time themselves and try to beat their record from previous games. If you could only let your child use one site, I would recommend this one!

Click on the Books and Authors tab for links to interviews with authors, writing activities, and book reviews. This site's layout will excite any child to pick up a book and read.
Word Girl

At this website students can practice building their robust vocabulary by playing games and fighting virtual crime. This site is modeled after the PBS kids show "Word Girl".

This site is put on by the National Parks Service and lets students become park rangers. They can go on exciting virtual adventures and make discoveries about nature and historical sites.
